It's not just the olympics - lap records broken this week at Teamworks Karting too!
Club night first-timers this week were given strong competition from our regular drivers, who set two new lap records plus came within inches of two more!
James McLeman set a new record time of 25.09s at Peterborough, and Paul Stevens beat his own fastest time with a new record 20.98s at Reading. James Curtis was within 0.05s of his own lap record at Coventry, and Connor Birch was only 0.14s slower than Jason Tulk's lap record at Letchworth.
This week's tip: warmer conditions help to improve grip, helping you brake later. Work on one corner at a time to try to brake slightly later: the most important corner to get right is always the one before the main straight.

Team-building events at Teamworks Karting

Injured troops in kart action

Teamworks Karting Birmingham will be hosting the final KARTFORCE event tomorrow, 7th February.

Kartforce is a truly inspirational project with a goal of providing injured troops with memorable adrenaline packed experiences. The serviceman taking part - include triple amputee Andy and Military Cross winner and double amputee Ricky - have all suffered life-changing injuries serving for their country but are able to drive a kart with one or two hands using specially designed hand controls. Due to popular demand, we have added one more team to the event, so if you fancy coming down with some mates and supporting this incredible cause,  visit www.teamworkskarting.com/kartforce or phone us on 0845 180 30 20. The first real winter temperatures hit the UK tonight, making a level playing field for all drivers. When it's colder, there's more power than grip, so the best drivers save momentum and carry as much corner speed as possible.

Three circuits actually ran quicker this week than last week, which shows you can't always tell the lap times by the weather!

Here's who made the top step of the podium:

• Birmingham - Matthew Parkes 25.20s (faster than last week's best time!)
• Coventry - new member Bradley Philpott 26.96s
• Letchworth - Aaron Tulk 24.31s (this time beating Jason Tulk's 24.58s, both faster than last week)

Karting for Wheelchair Users!

It's here at last! Genuine racing for wheelchair users!

KartForce hosted their first event at Reading on Tuesday night, and it was a roaring success.

The KartForce team is made up entirely of injured British troops, including double- and triple- amputees. Using specially-designed hand controls to operate the karts, KartForce beat all-comers to finish a very impressive 2nd place, only narrowly beaten by a team of professional racers!

Teamworks Karting Peterborough hopes to set another UK first in February, when it offers karting to the general public for disabled wheelchair drivers on a permanent basis - watch this space!

Injured troops in Kart Action

 

A series of karting events will be raced at Teamworks Karting tracks during January and February in support of injured troops. Kartforce is a truly inspirational project with a goal of providing injured troops with memorable adrenaline packed experiences. The serviceman taking part - include triple amputee Andy and Military Cross winner and double amputee Ricky - have all suffered life-changing injuries serving for their country but are able to drive a kart with one or two hands using specially designed hand controls.

  

8 teams can compete and with some places still available, there is the chance to come down and pay £55 to race for 2 hours against these incredible guys. Spectators are welcome to show their support.

 

The event dates are:

Reading track – Tue 24^th Jan

Letchworth track – Thu 26^th Jan

Peterborough track – Wed 1^st Feb

Birmingham track  – Tue 7^th Feb
